About
It’s called Floating City News, but don’t get your hopes up.
The real “news” is this: Honolulu, Hawaii is a bizarre and beautiful place. It’s enchanting and depraved; it's disgusting and delectably-irresistible. This website is an aggregate of all the things I come across: dispatches from within the Floating City.
I somewhat literally washed up on O'ahu years ago. Since then, I've been fortunate to have been given a ground-up education of the way things work around here.
From my initial houseless days in a van parked at Kapiolani Park to my current pestering of Hawaii's decision and lawmakers, I've been blessed with the gift of perspective. That's all I offer.
Also, don't be surprised to find the occasional typo on this site. Posts are all works in progress. I'm always reviewing and improving them.
You can usually find other reports by Matthew Kain in the Honolulu Weekly, or, at HonoluluWeekly.com . Although I believe the term to have predated it, 'twas a former column in said publication that inspired the name of this blog.
